“He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs 13:21
Being wise is a spiritual quality. It is not about being smart. To be wise is a gift of God. Wisdom is something only God can give. Wisdom is knowing who God is and what He is like. When we know Christ, we then know God.
To be wise describes who a person is and what he is like. A wise person seeks to know God, to know what God wants, and fears God. He is a person who lives his life seeking to become like Christ.
We learn to be wise by reading God’s Word learning what Christ was like and who He is. We learn to be wise by hanging around others who live wisely seeking Christ.
A fool is not so much a person who is stupid; a fool has a spiritual problem. He doesn’t know God, doesn’t care to know God, and doesn’t fear Him. A fool is open to all sorts of evil things. He is not protected from evil. A fool says there is no God and does not seek Him.
The Bible describes a fool:
-Doing wrong is fun for them.
-They do not want good advice.
-They talk much but have nothing to say.
-They will slip and fall.
-They are full of excuses.
How can you seek to become wise?
