“God has given each of us unique and special gifts. Some of us are good with animals, others are great athletes, and still more of us do a great job at helping others.”
Sam listened to his Sunday School teacher. “Nothing is special about me,” he thought sadly. His older brother was a great athlete, and his younger sister already played the piano better than his mom! He was just regular old Sam.
Later that day, he was sitting at the dining room table reading a book about spiders, when his sister called for help. “Sam, please, there is a big bug. Can you get it out?” Sam gently scooped the lost cricket up off the floor, before it jumped away. He placed it outside, just as his brother called him.
“What now?” He wondered.
“Sammy! I just hit my ball over the fence into Mr. Pitts yard. Can you go get it? You know he is so scary and mean to me.”
Sam smiled, “Sure Drew. And thanks! I just realized what gift God gave me! Sarah was afraid of the cricket, and you’re afraid of Mr. Pitts, but I am not afraid of anything! I am brave!”
“You made me; you created me. Now give me the sense to follow your commands.” Psalm 119:73
What gifts has God given you?
