What do you wish you had? Let me guess: an Elsa doll or a Ninja Turtle or maybe a Hulk toy.
What do you do when you really want something? When you are little, telling mom and dad what you want sometimes works. As you get older, you have to save your money to buy the things you want.
Wanting or wishing does not mean getting. We have to learn to work toward our wants. God is very generous but He knows that just giving us everything never works. (Think about all Adam and Eve had–and they listened to a snake instead of the One who gave it all to them!)
Even before we begin working for our wants, we need to know where the want came from! The Bible says God gives us the desires of our hearts (our wants!) WHEN we find our delight in Him.
“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
Any want that does not line up with the God of the Bible is not worth working toward.
Do you have a want you KNOW comes from God? What is it?
