Your parents are always telling to love your sister and be nice to her, but you just don’t want to. Your mom and dad tell you that God likes it when you love your sister, but you wish that He would have just let you be an only child. You don’t like the way your sister takes your toys away from you. You don’t like waiting for your sister to finish her dinner before you can have dessert. Sometimes it is hard to deal with a younger brother or sister, but God wants us to be nice to our siblings because He is all about love.
The Bible says we are supposed to love others because God loves us. God has chosen to love us even when we do things He doesn’t like, so we need to love our family members even when they do things we don’t like. Even when you have to deal with your sister and the way that she hogs all of the good toys, you still need to love her. God loves you, and He wants you to love those around you. God wants you to care about others in the same way that He cares about you.
“We love him, because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19)
