Ephesians 6:1 “Children obey your parents … ”
“Come right home after school, okay, Johnny?”
The last bell echoed as Johnny’s buddy Sam called out, “ Want to come over and play my new video game?” Sam held up the hottest new game.
“Ugh! I can’t. Mom said to come home right after school.”
“Well, she won’t be home. How would she know? ”
“You’re right. Let’s go,” Johnny mumbled. Two hours later, Johnny ran home and slid in the back door as mom pulled in the driveway.
Smiling, mom asked, “How was your day?”
“Good. Nothing special,” said Johnny.
“Really?” Mom asked in amazement. “You hadn’t seen Max in so long!”
“What are you talking about, Mom?”
“Max and his family didn’t stop by? They changed their plans just so you guys could see each other.”
Tears filled Johnny’s eyes. “Why didn’t you tell me?! I went to Sam’s for a little while. I didn’t think it would matter.”
“Obedience always matters, Johnny. I am so sad for both of you.”
Sometimes rules seem silly, but God gives rules that bless. Disobeying hurts us and others.
Have you ever chose to disobey and missed out on something great?
