Have you ever wondered what God’s will is? What is it that He really wants you to do?
Of course, God has personal plans for everyone’s life–even you! As you grow up, it’s important to pray about it. Pay attention to the things you love doing and the things God made you good at. However, the Bible does tell us one specific thing that He wants everyone to do:
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world” (James 1:27)
You may think that you don’t know any orphans or widows; you may wonder how you are supposed to “look after” them. In your church, I’m sure there are some widows, and at your school, I’m sure there are some kids who don’t have either a mommy or a daddy. But the main thing God is saying in this verse, is that He wants us to care for those who are hurting.
No matter how small you are, you can look after someone. Often, this just means smiling at them, visiting them in the hospital, sitting with them at lunch, or playing with them at recess. It’s important to God that you share His love with others.
Who can you look after today?
