Watch me as I grow like a tree, like a vine of grapes.
I can provide fruit that helps others grow.
I am part of God’s garden
This is how you will know.
My fruit is love, joy, and peace
I am patient and kind and do good things.
When I do what is expected and I control my temper,
I am blooming with love and the fruit it brings.
Did you know people are like trees in a garden?
Jesus said in John 15 that God is our gardener. Our heart is the soil of the garden. God plants His word in our hearts when we learn and memorize the scriptures. Jesus teaches that we are part of His garden. When we stay connected to Him we produce fruit that lets others know we are growing with Him. As we learn how to love others, we learn to show kindness. We learn how to speak words that don’t hurt people’s feelings. We learn how to obey and our faith in God grows. This is how others know that God is in charge of our garden.
Another Bible passage that talks about fruit is Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
