This time of the year, many of us make Valentines with pretty pink hearts on them. Roses are given out in abundance, and people work just a little bit harder to be loving and kind towards one another. What if we were to spend sometime making a valentine especially for Jesus? We could draw a rose with a long stem, barbed with sharp thorns, like the ones that pierced his precious head as a crown of them was placed on his head.
We could paste pink hearts to show him that we remember the love he poured out in his perfect life. And we could use shimmery red glitter to symbolize the blood he spilled as he died on the cross for our sins. We might even be able to pierce it with a golden cupid arrow, pointing straight up, reminding us that streets of God await us when we get to join Jesus in Heaven one day.
Perhaps we could write him a special note letting him how great our love is for him. We could also write a message of thanks, for the love that he perfectly sealed in his life and death. This Valentine’s Day, remember who the author of love is, and consider Jesus as you show love to others!
“ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ ” Matthew 22:37
Can you make a Valentine for Jesus? What will your write to him?
