You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light. (2 Samuel 22:29)
A night-light makes your room a place
Where you can see your stuff.
The hall-light shows you where to step
When walking might seem tough.
The light that’s in the fridge shows
What’s left of yummy snacks.
You need a light to keep you safe
When you’re ready for a bath.
A porch-light shows your friend
Just where to find your door.
It may help to avoid a fall
On the step with a loose board.
But Jesus is a lamp of wisdom
To guide our wandering feet
He is our source–the Light of Truth
That makes our life complete.
You can trust Him on your way.
You can trust Him when you sleep.
He will always light your day.
And always give you peace.
Fun fact: If you take a lighted candle into a dark room, the light overcomes the darkness.
