“So do not fear … I will strengthen you and help you.” Isaiah 41:10
They lay perfectly still, eyes open in their beds;
Fearful thoughts ran rampant through their heads.
What was that noise that they had heard,
A monster? A robber? Something covered in fur?
Then they heard it again–a loud thud from the hall,
Squirmles thought she could see a shadow big and tall!
Squirrel quickly hid under her sheets,
She just knew the monster had big hairy feet!
They started to whisper about what to do,
Sticking together, an army of two.
They heard another thump,
Or was it a bump?
Both too scared to open the door,
They crawled down, low on the floor.
The crept to the door and pushed it to see,
Only to laugh at their discovery.
It was only mom and dad looking for his keys,
Crawling desperately around on their knees.
Under the cabinets, dressers and chairs,
They looked more like hungry bears.
Thudding and thumping as they went,
Until the keys were found they wouldn’t relent.
“Please keep it down,” the two giggled and said,
“We thought you were monsters when we were in bed.”
Being scared is never fun,
No matter how fast you think you can run.
And in those times that you’re afraid,
Remember God is there and always to pray.
What is something that makes you afraid?
What do you do when you are afraid?
