We write these devotions for “big kids,” so I am guessing you are one of those. Did you know, though, that little kids have a lot to teach us? I want you to think of a two-year old–yourself if you remember back then, or a toddler you know. What is the word you hear the most from a little person?
Sometimes bigger people get annoyed with the question, but I think God gave little ones that question. Do you want to know why? (Yep, gotcha!)
Proverbs 4:7 says, “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”
The desire to know “why” comes right from God. He created this amazing universe to help us know Him. When we ask the question, “Why?” we open a door to gaining understanding. That is something God says is very wise!
Be careful, though, to only use why to learn more about God. Why is never to be used in a whiny way. “Why me?” is an insult to God. We know He is always good and always wise. So the best reason to ask “why” is to know more about His greatness.
What makes you ask, Why?
