A shelter is a place that we can trust to be safe, strong, and sturdy. It is a comfy place, where we can cuddle and rest.
When the three little pigs made their shelter of bricks, the big bad wolf couldn’t huff or puff enough to blow it down!
Soldiers learn how to make a shelter for themselves when they are trained for battle. They need to know how to shield themselves from the dangers around them. Our homes are often our shelters. They protect us from weather and other dangers, and they also offer us comfort.
The Bible tells us that the Lord is our shelter. He is so strong that nothing can get to us when we live in Him! Even though our houses are safe, nothing can compare to the safety we have in Jesus! He is also comfy, and we can trust that He will always be there to comfort us when we are feeling scared, or sad, or angry. We can call out to Him and at any second and He will be right there, offering us safety and rest!
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1 (NIV)
