The end of His journey was drawing near.
He was leaving those He loved and held dear.
Jesus knew who would turn away.
Jesus knew the one who would betray.
He knew trouble was ahead.
But on a donkey He was led.
A crowd started a parade to celebrate
Jesus was coming through the gate!
We celebrate Palm Sunday in remembrance
Of that day when crowd waved palm tree branches
To welcome Jesus’s entrance.
They shouted “Hosanna!” and wanted to make Him king.
But His purpose was salvation to bring.
We shout “Hosanna!” because Jesus didn’t change His mind.
He took the journey to save mankind.
John 12:12-15 says, “The next day the huge crowd that had arrived for the Feast heard that Jesus was entering Jerusalem. They broke off palm branches and went out to meet him. And they cheered: Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in God’s name! Yes! The King of Israel!”
Jesus knew there were people in Jerusalem who didn’t like Him and would give Him a hard time. He did what God, His Father, told Him to do anyway.
Aren’t you glad Jesus was not afraid to obey God? How does it make you feel to know what Jesus did for you?
