Philippians 2:4 (ICB)
“Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others.”
Flora and Brandt like to run and play.
They jump and flip in the sun all day.
They go to school to learn to read, write, and count
But when summer comes they go camping at Lake On the Mount.
At camp they wake up early to praise the Lord
And practice lessons from the Bible stories they’ve heard.
They help the elderly by cleaning yards and taking out trash.
They visit hospitals, nursing homes, and serve lunch in sacks.
They return to camp at the end of the day, but before they retire
They swim, play games, eat dinner, and sing by the camp fire.
At the end of camp they invite parents and friends
To a picnic and a tour of their cabins.
They show off their crafts and swimming skills.
And the ribbons they’ve won winning Bible drills.
Flora and Brandt learned to use some of the summer break to help people in their community. During the summer many churches offer vacation bible school and summer camps to teach young people about serving God.
What are some things you can do this summer to serve people in your community?
