“But everyone gets to go,” Squirmles and Squirrel whined.
But the answer was no, their parents had drawn the line.
“Wapin and Wapoon get to go,” the argument went,
But still their parents would not relent.
It was not okay to go to such a thing,
Where attitude and language is what it would bring.
Some parents might say yes and think it okay,
But in the eyes of their parents, home they must stay.
For Squirmles and Squirrel the answer was always, “No!”
Why, why didn’t they ever get to go?
You see, their parents loved God and they cared a lot,
The Lord and wisdom is what they sought.
To Squirmles and Squirrel it seemed cruel,
But to their parents it was more than a rule.
God wants His children to stand apart,
To be different, to show they have a new heart.
It’s not always an easy thing to do,
To be different is a job for two.
So learn of God and all He has done,
Be brave, be strong, be the different one.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2).
