It didn’t make sense, they didn’t understand,
How could God take such a wonderful man?
Most called him Eb, some called him Dad,
But to them he’d always be Granddad.
Why would God do this? Did He want them sad?
Squirmles and Squirrel were confused at first,
Why did it happen? Could it get any worse?
God must not love them to do such a thing,
The pain they felt was ever-deepening.
Granddad loved God and they need him here,
They missed his smile and his cheer.
They couldn’t understand why God would do this,
Why take away a person just to be missed?
But God’s thoughts are higher, He knew this was best.
He knew it was time for their Granddad to rest.
He had serve his purpose while he was alive,
Now it was time to see others thrive.
It would take a while for the pain to end,
They had to remember Who their faith was in.
God didn’t need to explain His ways,
He just asked for their trust in upcoming days.
Squirmles and Squirrel had to learn to lean,
They had to trust in the unseen.
They didn’t see it, but God had a plan,
But first they had to lean, not stand.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5).
