“Wait for the LORD and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off.” Psalms 37:34
Squirmles and Squirrel
Were in quite a whirl.
They had said their prayers and now lay awake,
Why hadn’t He answered yet for goodness sake?
They needed their prayer answered and they needed it now!
They knew He could answer they didn’t care how.
They waited impatiently throughout the night,
Maybe He’d answer at morning light.
When daylight came they were in quite a tizzy,
Had God not heard them? Was He too busy?
So with no reply from God, or so they thought,
They gave up on Him and said “Thanks a lot ”
But God heard their prayer and needed them to wait.
He had a plan. His answer wasn’t “late”.
He always had their best interests in mind.
He wasn’t ignoring or being unkind.
God already knew His answer to their prayer,
He already had them in His loving care.
But He needed them to slow down and wait on His will,
Listen to Him, wait, and be still.
Something to think about:
Sometimes when we say a prayer and don’t immediately see it answered in the way we want, we begin to doubt God. We doubt He has heard our prayer or perhaps even doubt that He cares about our situation. It is important to remember that God does care, even when we don’t feel like He does. When we don’t see the answer we thought was best, or as quickly as we would like, remember it’s because He already knows our future and has an even better plan.
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalms 46:10
