“But the fruit of the spirit is…” Janie was singing a new song she had learned in Sunday School. Her father, who had been working on his car, paused to listen.
“That is such an amazing song, Janie!”
Janie smiled, “Thanks dad! Ms. Frances told us it was the easiest way to remember the Bible verse, and I think she was right!”
Her father wiped his hands clean and walked towards her with a hug. “She was definitely right. We need to hide God’s word in our heart, and singing it to a song is one of the best ways for us all to remember. Will you teach me your song?”
Janie laughed as her Dad learned the words to the song with her, pleased to have the time with him.
It’s so important for all of us to commit God’s word to our hearts. When we do, we are hiding little promises away for a time when we really need them. Learning scripture verses to songs is a great way to remember them! Janie’s Sunday School teacher taught her one such song. Remember, however you memorize, God’s word is a gift for us to keep forever, to open up again and again whenever we need it!
