Some days it seems everywhere we go someone tells us we are messing up. It’s hard to be a kid!
Believe it or not, grown-ups go through the same things. At work, the boss fusses about our work, at home the kids fuss with each other, and when we tell them it’s time for homework or bed, they fuss at us!
You know, sometimes everyone likes to hear that they did something right. If we practice paying attention to the good things other people are doing every day, and tell them “thank you” or “good job,” everyone would smile a lot more and feel better and happier.
So, when you get off the bus, thank your driver for getting you to school. When you see your teacher, tell her she looks nice or how much you like her class. At lunchtime, thank the lunch ladies when they serve you. The lunch ladies prepare and serve everyone and not many people take the time to say thanks.
Another person like that is the janitor. He cleans up everyone’s messes, but not many appreciate him. In fact, many people think being a janitor a bad job. There is no shame in any job that is done well. Someone has to empty the trash cans or they would be overflowing and then what would you do when you needed to throw something away? Everyone deserves some appreciation.
Who can you show special appreciation to today?
