“Mom! Olivia took the blue marker again!”
“I did not take it, I am only using it!”
“Give it to me, I need it!”
Adam and his sister Olivia were fighting over the blue marker when their mother walked into the playroom from the kitchen where she had been making lunch.
“Guys! Do you know how frustrated I can get when you argue?” Their mother was calm, and asked politely.
They looked ashamed. “Yes, Mom.”
“Well, Jesus’ heart breaks when his children do not share what they have with others. Sharing is an act of love. And by sharing, you are giving another person not only the thing they need or want, like a blue marker, but you are giving them the love of Jesus, who shared his time, energy, and resources to show God’s plan to the world.”
Adam and Olivia were quiet as their mother walked away, and Olivia handed her brother the marker. “I can take my turn when you are done. Sorry Adam!”
Adam apologized too, and they worked to care through their sharing.
“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Hebrews 13:16
How can you show that you care by sharing today?
