Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7
Oh she wanted to touch it, just one finger would do,
But she could read the sign, she wasn’t supposed to.
The sculpture looked so pretty carved into the ice,
One little touch wouldn’t hurt, she could “role the dice.”
The sculpture was roped off; it was easy to see,
“DO NOT TOUCH” was posted prominently.
What fun is the state fair if you can’t touch anything?
“Seriously,” Squirrel thought, “ I won’t harm a thing!”
She put down her soda and reached with her hand,
Unaware of the dampness on it left from the can.
She reached over the rope hoping no one would see,
Then she gently touched the sculpture, cold and icy.
Squirrel was right, no one saw her reach out and touch,
But then the damage went from little to much.
Squirrel pulled back her hand after she felt the ice,
But the ice sculpture wasn’t as nice.
Her hand was stuck as stuck can be,
All four fingers could not be freed.
She tugged and pulled her very best,
It was then she realized she failed the “test.”
Resisting evil is hard to do,
Sometimes it can feel like a test to you.
To do good or to do bad, you often have a choice,
That’s when you should listen to the still small voice.
God will guide you but you must stay strong,
Say yes to what’s right and no to what’s wrong.
Resist the devil and he shall flee,
In Christ Jesus you can be free.
Have you ever been tempted? How did you respond?
