“Children are a reward from him.” Psalm 127:3
“I know what you want, and I don’t care,
This is my toy, and I don’t want to share.”
Those were the words mom heard from their room,
And knew what would happen all too soon.
The something surprising came to past,
There wasn’t fight, the disagreement didn’t last.
Squirrel simply left, defeated and sad,
There was no argument, no one got mad.
But the brokenness that Squirrel felt didn’t go away,
She didn’t come out later, not even to play.
She felt unimportant, replaced by a toy,
The friendship they had had brought so much joy.
Squirmles had made it clear that she wanted her things,
More than her sister and all the fun the relationship brings.
She had chosen her toys over her sister you see,
A choice with results that won’t go away easily.
It’s important to remember that toys are just things,
They can’t supply what a relationship brings.
God tells us to value our family and friends,
They will be what matter most in the end.
How do you treat your friends? How do you treat people you don’t know?
