“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs 14:34
Our country, Lord, founded by Thee,
A sweet and pleasant land where mercy reigns,
If indeed, we bow the knee,
Giving worship to your holy name!
As children, we will seek your face.
Your mighty arm will make our country strong
Abiding in your sweet embrace,
We will choose right instead of wrong.
Sin always strives to bring us down,
Our lives are stained by its crimson blood.
In your palm may we be found,
Mindful of the nail-scarred flood.
Mighty men, our leaders past,
But many wrongs each one did make,
Like them we kneel, we pray and fast,
Oh, in your hand, our country take!
Oh, lift us up and forgive our blight!
Take our land and wash it pure and clean,
Righteous and holy for Thy sight,
Show us the truth–the mercy stream.
Fun Fact: Our nation was founded on freedom of religion—where we can choose who we will worship.
Questions: Will you choose the truth of Jesus Christ who allowed His blood to stream down a cross so we could make that choice? Is the stain of sin only cleansed by Jesus blood?
