“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12
“Don’t forget to clean up your room,”
“Sweep the kitchen with the broom.”
“Do this, do that.” Squirmles thought.
All she did was chores, she did a lot!
“Listen to me and obey,”
Is what her mom would say.
But what did that mean?
To Squirmles it just meant: clean, clean, clean.
All mom ever wanted was chores to be done,
Why did she have to listen? Chores were no fun.
She always had to pick up her room,
Put away toys and find the broom.
Obeying isn’t always fun to do,
But it’s something God instructs of you.
To honor and respect your parents in charge,
It’s part of a bigger picture, quite large.
Obeying is important because God tells us to,
To love and honor the parents he’s given you.
He’s placed them in charge to raise his children,
To honor, to respect, obey and listen.
It’s not just about doing what you’re told,
It’s about shaping who you are as you get old.
You build respect and honor when you obey.
But first the foundation (of obedience) must be laid.
Do you ever find it hard to obey your parents?
Why is it important to listen and obey?
