“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.”
— Mathew 5:5
The Bible says Moses was a meek man; he was the one God chose to lead His people out of Egypt. They were slaves there. Pharaoh was the leader of Egypt. He did not want to let God’s people leave.
Moses was meek, but he was not a weak man.
Sometimes we forget that God is listening to us. Moses did not argue and complain when Pharaoh would not let his people go free. Moses did not complain when God told him, “Don’t worry; just trust me.” God brought ten plagues on the people of Egypt. Moses kept talking with God, and God was listening to him. Finally, Pharaoh let God’s people leave.
Moses was patient and waited on God to act. Moses did not defend himself or complain. He didn’t get mad at God or at Pharaoh.
God promises us that He will build a new heaven and a new earth when Christ comes back to get us. This promise is to all who believe in Him. It will be a perfect place with no sin, no hurt, and no need for complaining. Those who are meek like Moses will be given this new place to live with Christ forever.
How can you be more like Moses—meek not weak?
