There are instructions that Jesus gave while He walked on earth about caring for the “least of these.” But what does this mean? Just before, Jesus shared that we need to care about those who are sick or in prison. Caring for anyone that is in a worse off place than we are is our job as followers of Jesus. This could mean that we donate our old clothing, volunteer to feed the hungry, play with kids at school that seem lonely, or help out when we know our parents don’t feel well.
As followers of Christ, we can trust that God will place lots of people in our life each day that we can help and care for. And when we take care to show God’s love to those that are the “least of these,” we are honoring God and showing Him that we care deeply about the perfect life Jesus lived.
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40
How can you care for the least of these?
