“She pinched me!” “Well she pulled.”
Finally, mom ruled,
“No more arguing, end the fight.”
All the fighting and hate wasn’t right.
Squirmles and Squirrel knew it was wrong,
They had known from the beginning–all along.
“Love each other as yourself,”
It was a pretty sign up on the shelf.
Putting love into action is a different chore,
It takes work, and then some more.
But God called us to love and be kind to others,
Friends, neighbors, sisters, brothers.
He didn’t say love when it’s easy or fun to do,
He said “Love because I first loved you.”
He didn’t give a limit on how kind to be,
He loves and forgives unconditionally.
Squirmles and Squirrel knew this to be true,
They had read it in the Bible a time or two.
Now Mom wanted done, for the fight to end,
It was time to let forgiveness begin to mend.
“And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”Matthew 22:29
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there are no laws.” Galatians 5:22
How do you think God wants you to respond the next time someone hurts or bothers you?
