“You are lucky to have a Mom and Dad that help you all the time and are so nice.”
John was at school and his friend Jack was angry as he said this. “Not everyone has such a nice Mom and Dad!”
Jack stomped off and John was bothered. When his mother picked him up from school, he told her what was bothering him.
“John, Jack’s parents are divorced. And they don’t get along very well. It is very hard on him, and I hope you understand that he wasn’t mad at you.”
“Jack is right, it is a gift to have a nice Mom.” He smiled, and then asked his mother, “Why are you and Dad so nice and Jack’s parent’s fight all the time?”
His mother was quiet. “I am not sure why Jack’s parents are struggling, but I know that life has to be done plus one.”
“Yes, Jesus gives your father and I love to meet the day and each other. We have to have Jesus’ love. He is our plus one.”
John smiled again, and thought about how he would tell Jack about his Plus One the next day.
