My puppy showed me how foolish fear can make me. Scared by firecrackers, he hid under my recliner. The fireworks couldn’t hurt him … my chair could. Fear makes us act the same way–we rush into danger instead of trusting our Father.
The heart of God cries out for us to trust Him. The Bible speaks of fear almost 400 times–and tells us not to fear over sixty times! God wants us to reject fear and run to Him.
Faith is the opposite of fear. Faith believes there is nothing in our lives outside the love of God. We have absolutely nothing to be afraid of when we trust Jesus.
Just saying don’t be scared, doesn’t help though, does it? Of course not! Fear shuts off our thinking brain. So, what can we do?
We can let fear do its job: remind us we need God’s help. As soon as we feel fear trying to grab us, we say, “Jesus, I need you.” He always hears us and prays for us constantly. The Holy Spirit lives inside us and shares all that God is with us! (Galatians 5:22)
1 John 4:18 says, ” … perfect love casts out fear.”
When do you need to ask Jesus for help?
