“The water will hold you up. Just relax.”
The swim teacher spoke gently. I heard her, but it didn’t make sense to me. It was hard to believe. Besides, I wanted to swim, not float! Thinking about what I wanted to be doing made it even harder to believe her!
Are you ever like that? You want something but don’t like the help (or teaching) that someone gives? It is called being stubborn, and it does not help us or please God. He is patient and sends us patient teachers to help us learn and grow.
I did not know that learning to float was an important part of swimming! In fact, you cannot swim if you sink, can you? I am so glad that my teacher patiently pushed me to learn what she knew I needed to know!
All of life teaches about God. We are to grow in grace, knowledge and in relationship with others just like Jesus. (Luke 2:52)
When I float, I think of trusting God. Faith in Him holds me up so I CAN swim! Swimming reminds me to obey and do His work while trusting in Him.
What fun things help you know God more?
