“They…acknowledged that God’s way was right.” Luke 7:29
“But I don’t want to go,
The music is boring and everything’s so slow,
The chairs aren’t comfy,
And it’s hard to see.
“Please don’t make me go,
I don’t like it you know.”
This was Squirrel’s final fight,
Before the symphony that night.
Once a month, with grandparents they went,
The whole evening at the symphony was spent.
Squirmles and Squirrel knew it was a “treat,”
But at this age they couldn’t sit still in their seat.
They didn’t want to go and made it quite clear,
And they became more vocal the more it neared.
Three hours was more than they could take,
Mom explained to them it wasn’t for their sake.
“Sometimes you have to do things you don’t want,
And whining and complaining is no way to confront.
Life isn’t all about your wishes and desires,
You need to cooperate and not be criers.
“Life is doing things that are important to others,
Never mind your wishes and your druthers.
So please cooperate and make this fun,
I want to enjoy this with you before it’s done.”
Have you ever had to go to something you didn’t want to?
Why is it important to do this for others not just for ourselves?
