Hello my friends, I am Joseph.
And I am the favored child.
My father made a multi-colored coat,
And my brothers hated me.
I had some dreams that were the best,
But my brothers could not agree.
Sheaves of corn and stars and moon,
All bowing down to me.
One day I went to see my brothers,
But they threw me in a pit.
They sold me into slavery,
And to Egypt I did go …
To serve a wealthy man and wife,
I got on well and our friendship grew.
But his wife wanted more
So lied and brought me shame.
Off to prison I was sent,
But God had a plan my friend.
He gave the gift to explain some dreams,
And again I was free and in charge.
I cared for all the grain and stocks,
For a famine was about to come.
When all the world was starving,
We could help them out.
Now back at home my father
Sent my brothers with a desperate plea.
They came to me on bended knee,
Not knowing it was me.
For a while I played the part
But just could stop my love.
I told them who I really was
And we all wept tears of joy.
I sent at once for my wonderful day
And even more tears were shed.
The king gave them a load of land
And there they ended their days.
“The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.” Genesis 39:2
