Now the Lord provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. (Jonah 1:17)
Hello my friends, I’m Jonah!
I thought I could run from God.
He told me to go Nineveh,
but me, I ran for Joppa.
I caught a boat to Tarshish,
and thought that I had won.
But God had other plans in mind,
And He knew that they were right.
On board the ship I lay to sleep,
But God sent a massive storm.
The sailors panicked and they drew lots,
To see who was to blame.
My name was found; they woke me up,
And I said, “Yes it’s me.
You have to throw me overboard,
And then storm will cease.”
They did as they were told straight off,
And the storm just died away.
A fish was sent to swallow me,
I wasn’t meant to drown.
Three days I stayed there in the fish,
Praying to God above.
My lesson learned, I said I’m sorry.
The fish brought me up to shore.
God said, “Now go, do as I said.
For I love these people, they are mine,
And they will turn and worship me,
And I will bless their lives.”
That very day I went where he said,
And hundreds of lives were saved.
I should have listened from the start,
And never run away.
What would you have done if you were Jonah?
