“God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer.” Psalms 66:19
Frustrated and upset, Squirmles began to cry.
“I can’t pray right, not matter how hard I try.
I can’t find the right words to say,
He’s not going to listen anyway.”
“That’s not true,” Mom began.
“Whatever you say, God will understand.
Prayer isn’t meant to be perfect and right,
Prayer is going to God when you’ve lost all your might.
“God hears your prayer and what you’ve said,
You don’t have to be kneeling by your bed.
He hears your thoughts and your cries,
He sees you with his gentle eyes.
“He knows where you’re hurt or have lost your way,
He knows your heart and what you mean to say.
He’s given you his spirit to speak when you don’t know how.
You don’t have to pray perfect with a kneel or bow.
“In a car,
Near or far,
In a house,
Quiet as a mouse.
“Loud with shouts of joy outside,
Kneeling at your bedside,
Quiet and alone,
With a friend on the phone.
“The line to God is also free,
Just talk to him and you’ll see.
Talk to him like a caring father,
And with perfect words you won’t bother.”
Have you ever thought you had to “pray perfect” to be heard?
Do you like to pray or is it something that intimidates you?
