“With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2 ESV
The game was over, Squirmles had won again!
Squirrel had spent all the time she would spend.
She was tired of losing to Squirmles every day.
But what was worse was what she’d say.
“I won, I won,” was Squirmles cheer,
Every time, each game, came the winning jeer.
It was no fun to lose the game,
But the taunting and teasing was the really thing to blame.
But now with no one to play the game,
Squirmles was sad just the same.
Through her cheering and jeering she had lost playmate.
She went to apologize before it was too late.
“I’m sorry for bragging,” she told her sister,
“Let’s play a new game, maybe Twister?
I promise I let you win this time around,
I won’t brag or laugh if you fall to the ground.”
Winning is fun and we should try our best,
But bragging and boasting should take a rest.
God gave us each special talent and skills,
But we must use them to His glory and will.
Humility isn’t always easy to show
It’s winning, but winning without the glow.
It’s winning but gracefully,
Not bragging or nagging purposefully.
What’s your favorite game to play?
Do you always have to win or do you have fun when others win as well?
How do you feel when you lose?
