Shelley sat on the sidewalk writing. No one noticed her. Shelly felt like no one ever noticed her. Biting her lip and squeezing back tears, she wrote: “I just want someone to know. I feel sad today.” Picking up another piece of chalk, Shelley added: “I am very sad today.”
Do you ever feel like, Shelley? We all do sometimes. Our feelings get hurt; everyone else seems too busy to notice. We feel lost and alone. Do you believe God knows and cares about those times? He does. His Word says so.
“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Psalm 145:18
God knows everything, but He is not a know-it-all. His knowledge is powerful and loving. He knows every hurt we feel. God even knows when someone grabs your hair and pulls a piece out! Just knowing that someone knows and cares helps!
When the one who knows and cares is God, it is even better. When our hearts hurt, He wants us to know deep down inside of us that our hurt matters. He sees it–and wants to wrap His love around us to make the hurt go away.
Is there something hurting you that you need to give to Jesus? What is it?
