“Clothe yourself with compassion.” Colossians 3:12
Her books were out she was ready to go,
Time for homework, or she thought so.
A gently call came from next door,
“Squirmles come here, I’m on the floor.”
“I’m busy,” is what she wanted to say,
“I’m busy right now, just go away.”
After all she was busy and had homework to do.
Surely Squirrel could wait ‘til she was through.
These were the thoughts rolling around in her head,
Finally she gave in a hopped off her bed.
She walked next door to see the fuss.
“What do you need in such a rush?”
Squirrel sat there with a puzzle too big to do,
“Can you help? I promise I won’t bother you when we’re through.”
Patiently Squirmles sat down to help with the mess,
Squirrel, after all, looked helpless.
The puzzle didn’t take long to complete,
Finished, they both jumped to their feet.
Squirmles went back to finish what she had begun,
She sat down with her homework … start with one.
Helping Squirrel hadn’t been convenient to do,
But she knew it was good to help and now it was through.
Pausing to help others may seem like a pain,
But showing that you care is the gain.
Have you ever helped someone when it wasn’t convenient for you?
How can you show compassion to others?
