Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth … “ (Matthew 5:13). So, what do we know about salt? We can’t be something we know nothing of, right?
- Salt is good on French fries.
- It really helps to put salt on an icy sidewalk.
- The salt in the Dead Sea helps people float.
- In the Bible, Lot’s wife turned into a pillar of salt.
But what do we do with that information? How can that help us “BE SALT” as Jesus tells us to be?
Salt actually does some really neat things.
Do you ever eat pickles or beef jerky; they’re salty. Salt keeps things from spoiling. God want to use us to keep the world from spoiling too.
Doing what’s right is a way to BE SALTY!
Salt also works great as a cleaner. It even cleans out infections! Salt is a healer. That’s another exciting job from God: He uses us to heal others.
Loving others and smiling is a way to BE SALTY!
Salt stops weeds from growing and keeps pesky ants away. God wants us to help out like that too.
Pulling up weeds of sin is a way to BE SALTY!
How will you be salty today?
