Hope was sitting in the backseat of her parents’ minivan. Her eyes concentrated hard on the words and pictures in her Bible. Her father saw her in his rear view mirror and asked, “Hope, what are you reading?”
“I am reading about Moses, Dad. Did you know he wrote part of the Bible? And did you know there were a lot of other people that helped to write God’s word? It’s what we are learning about in Sunday School right now.”
Her father smiled at her quick response. “Yes, I did know that. I also know that the Bible is a precious book, and there are people all over the world that can get in big trouble if they are found reading a Bible.”
“Really? I didn’t know that! Why?” Hope was curious.
“Because the Bible is God’s Holy Word, and many people are afraid of other people learning the truth about God. We should thank God every day that we live somewhere that it is still safe to read our Bibles.”
Hope agreed, and she said a special prayer of thanks for God’s Holy Book with her father.
Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”
What do you know about the Bible? What can we find within the pages of our Bible?
