Judah was an interesting man. Born after his mother, Leah, decided to “praise the Lord,” he was destined for a special place in God’s plan. One of Jacob’s 12 sons, he was wicked in his dealings with his younger brother, Joseph, and helped his other brothers sell him to slave trade. Later, he showed his bad side yet again when he treated a woman from his family in a hurtful manner.
But his heart changed, and he became a humble man when he saw what his wickedness was doing. When we choose to be unkind, selfish, cruel, reckless or disobedient, we fail to accept God’s plan for our life. Judah lived a hard life until his heart changed and he chose to turn away from his life of sin. We can choose to turn away from our bad decisions too. It only takes a simple prayer and a bit of hard work to turn our life around!
And in the end, Judah was so blessed for his heart change. In his final days, Jacob gave Judah a double blessing, the special and prized gift that usually went to a firstborn or a favorite son. And even better than the special blessing of his father, Jesus came from Judah’s family! God used Judah and his bad to blessed story in order to bring us the Savior of the World! There is something God has planned for you too, when you choose to go from bad to blessed!
“Judah, your brothers will praise you; your hand will be on the neck of your enemies; your father’s sons will bow down to you.” Genesis 49:8
What do you need to ask God’s forgiveness for?
