“Hey, kids, would you like to come help me?” Mom called from the kitchen.
Kari leaped up. She enjoyed being a helper.
“What are you doing, Mom? Are you making cookies?”
“I am. I thought you might like to put the cookies on the tray.”
” … and lick the bowl?” Kari asked excitedly.
“Sure,” Mom said with a smile.
“Can I put them in the oven by myself today?” pleaded Kari.
“I would like to help you with that. The oven is very hot. Let’s do it together, okay?”
“You will be my helper like I am your helper? I like that idea!”
Do you like to help you people? Helping others feels good.
Learning to help and let others help us with things is a very important part of life!
God made us to enjoy being helpers–because he made us to be like Him. The Bible tells us in many places that God is our helper! One of my favorite verses says it this way:
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:2
I am so glad my “Helper” is so wise and powerful, aren’t you?
What things do you help with? What do you need help with?
