“Do not lay up for yourselves treasure on earth … but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,” (Matthew 6:19-20).
Squirrel added another piece of candy to her pile,
She had been collecting it for quite a while.
Hidden under her teddy,
She would eat it ALL when she was ready.
She had collected the candy over time,
All she was thinking was “Mine, mine, mine.”
She didn’t plan on sharing any pieces,
Not an M&M and not a Reeses.
Squirmles knew about the candy pile,
She had been eyeing it all the while.
She asked one day for a bite,
Just a little would be alright.
The answer was, “No, it’s all mine.”
Greed had taken over Squirrel’s mind.
She didn’t want to share, not one bit,
And on her pile she did sit.
Greed and selfishness blinded her sight,
Blinded her from doing what was right.
God tells us to share and give,
Not keep it all on the earth where we live.
Storing up treasures here won’t help a thing.
For when we die we can’t take a thing.
Treasure in heaven is what matters most.
Attending the party that Jesus hosts.
Greed and selfishness blocks our vision.
We, God’s children, are here on a mission.
To share not only what we save,
But the love of God and what He gave.
What do you have a hard time sharing?
