[Joseph] went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. Luke 2:5-7
In God’s time, Caesar counted his world,
So all his world could be taxed.
Each man and woman, boy and girl,
Had to travel–instead of relax!
Joseph traveled with Mary and more,
So they all could register their names.
Tall or short, young or old,
They were counted just the same.
That journey would take them to
Bethlehem and when all the counting was done,
Mary got ready to have her child
Who was God’s only sweet Son.
God counted us when He looked to see
Who would need a Savior that night.
Your name was written on the list!
Our Savior would bring us true life.
Thank you, God, for loving us so
That You came to rescue us all.
For Heaven’s child was born that night,
In a lowly cattle stall!
Fun fact: A manager, where Mary laid Jesus, was a place where cattle ate hay.
