When Solomon was born, the Bible says God loved him. Solomon grew up and became king after his father David. One night God offered Solomon anything he wanted. Solomon asked for wisdom to serve and lead the people of Israel. God was proud of Solomon’s request because Solomon could have asked to become rich, to be famous, or to be king over everything. Because Solomon asked for wisdom, God gave him wisdom and knowledge. God made Solomon one of the wisest kings to ever live. Even though King Solomon didn’t ask to be famous, he is famous for writing three books in the Bible and for building the first temple to God.
God loves you just like He did King Solomon. He wants to make you wise. God wants all of us to be smart and wise. When God makes us smart we become wise about how to treat others, how to make the right choices, and how to show respect to our parents and the adults who care for us.
When God makes us wise we are:
Willing to obey God’s word
Interested in how others are doing
Serious about serving God
Eager to learn about God
King Solomon wrote the book of Proverbs. Can you remember this verse?
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom and the one who gets understanding.
If you were King Solomon, what would you have God for?
