Before Jesus came and died on the cross, Jewish or Hebrew people had to present themselves to God through a special man called the high priest. He would offer sacrifices for them, and was a go-between for both man and God. The problem was, priests were just people, and they made mistakes as well, and this old fashioned system wasn’t working for God anymore.
A secret place that only High Priests were allowed to go was hidden by a huge curtain, or veil. Behind it, God’s presence could be found. When Jesus died, this veil was torn down the middle, and never was needed again because God was able to be with people for ever after. This is so important because before only one man could be in God’s presence, but after the death of Jesus, we can all have God with us. Trust that God is with you, and thank Jesus for bringing Him out from behind the veil into all lives that welcome Him!
“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever … “ Hebrews 6:19-20
How would you feel if you had to trust another person to talk to God for you?
