Have you ever done something that made someone in your life very angry? Maybe you spilled your milk all over your sister’s favorite book or you broke your mom’s lamp. Sometimes, the things that we do make the people around us angry. Sometimes, people become angry because they are feeling sad and it helps them feel better to be angry instead. It is hard when you make someone angry, especially when you really care about that person.
The Bible says that God is slow to get angry. The things you do that make your brothers and sisters angry don’t make God angry. People get angry when they are hurt, and sometimes they hurt other people when they are angry. God doesn’t get angry in the way that people do. God is slow at getting angry. God isn’t going to shout at you or call you names. God isn’t going to hit you or push you down. God is patient. God is loving. God cares about you, even when people are angry with you.
“The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.” Psalm 145:8
