It’s easy to forget something. Like when you are playing with your friend and Mom told you to be home at five, but you were having so much fun, you forgot about the time. Or that time when you had homework and left your book at school. No one can remember everything, can they? The Bible says that God remembers everything except our sin once we have asked Him for forgiveness.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who [respect] him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:11-12 (NIV)
Remember when a friend made you mad or did something you didn’t like but the he came and said he was sorry and you forgave him? You forgave him, but did you forget what he did to you? Do you still think about it once in a while?
That’s where God is different from us. When we sin (do something wrong) and we ask God to forgive us He not only forgives, He forgets what we did wrong. So if you said, “God, remember when I did this?” He would say no. That’s how He is. So the next time a friend makes us angry and asks for forgiveness, let’s forgive and forget.
Who do you need to completely forgive?
