Hello my name is Saul,
And I was an upright man.
I put God’s people into jail.
That is what I thought was good!
But on this day to my surprise,
A mighty light had filled my eyes.
And a voice to me had cried,
“Saul, Saul why do you persecute me?”
Surprised and shocked I lay on the floor,
Blinded by the shining light.
“Lord, what shall I do if this is wrong?
How can I make it right?”
“Go into Damascus and wait for a man
Who will come and heal your eyes.
He will teach you of my ways
And tell you what to do.”
Three days and nights I sat and prayed.
Meanwhile God told a man,
“Go and pray for the man called Saul
for his heart now belongs to me.”
Fearfully Ananias obeyed,
And came to sort me out.
He healed my eyes and helped my heart,
And showed me which way to go.
And now I’m serving Jesus,
And leading people to God.
My name has changed from Saul to Paul,
And my letters preach God’s name.
“And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.” Acts 9:17
Has God ever asked you to do something you were afraid of doing?
