What do you think of when I say the word “precious”?

Sometimes we hear people say, “Oh she’s just precious,” and what they really mean is that she’s cute. But God calls you precious—did you know that? And He means so much more than that you’re cute!

Isaiah 43:4 says, “Because you are precious in my eyes … and I love you … “.

That word precious actually means “costly” or “expensive”. Did you know that you are very expensive to God? You were worth the price of Jesus dying for you! That’s how God paid for you to make you His very own.

Have you ever saved your pennies to buy something you really, really wanted? That’s how God feels about you. He really, really wants you—wants to be your friend and have a special relationship with you.

Has your mom ever had to tell you that something is too expensive to buy? God never, ever says that about you. He gave everything He had for you. You are so very, very valuable to God!

Psalm 139:17 says, “How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!” You are so incredibly important to God that He thinks about you all the time! The Bible says that God has more thoughts about you than there are grains of sand on the sea shore!

So the next time you feel small, unimportant, forgotten, boring or lonely remember how God feels about you! The God of the whole wide world calls you precious!

What is something or someone precious to you? How do you feel about them? Why?
