Performing His great miracles had drawn so many crowds;
When Jesus came back home again, the people gathered ’round.
Not a bit of space was found – there were so many folks!
No room inside or outside of the home where Jesus spoke.
While Jesus preached and shared the Scriptures with the people near,
Four men approached the house to take a crippled man in there.
The man they brought could not stand up or sit or even walk.
Upon his mat, they carried him for healing that they sought.
In order to reach Jesus, they climbed on the roof so high.
They took the man upon the mat and lowered him inside.
For healing of this man, their faith was seen by Jesus then.
It touched His heart and Jesus forgave all of this man’s sins.
Some of the teachers of the Law were thinking, “He’s blaspheming!”
Since only God can forgive sins – was this man somehow scheming?
“Which is easier?” Jesus said, knowing what they thought,
“To forgive sins or tell this man to get up and to walk?”
Jesus gave the crippled man instructions to arise,
When he did, all were amazed, and praising God on High!
What Did We Learn? Jesus knew that the man needed to be forgiven of his sins even more than he needed healing in his body.
“He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, ‘We have never seen anything like this!’” (Mark 2:12 / NIV)
Have you asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins?
